My Simple Home Studio Set Up by Rachelle Ignacio
Here is my off camera looks like:) |
Hi guys! Today I am now ready to share what my home studio looks like. Just for a quick over view: I started to cover songs a year ago. So many struggles up to now and as a person that needed some source of income, blogging and entering the world of YouTube was a big challenge. Gaining views and subscribers was hard to what I was expecting it. I also feel that some artist can noticed when they had beautiful and decent Home Studio set up and personally I admired those artist that has a very nice background. However, my fiancè with all of his knowledge of doing 'Do it yourself" stuff, little by little we completed the basic needs and tools for a decent covers. As an amateur in covering songs, that was a big challenge for me to make my own rendition of the song. I needed to be careful when choosing keys for my voice specially when a song was originally for men. Basically home studio set up can look extravagant or simple just like mine.
List of my stuff on my Home Recording Studio Set Up
Scarlett 2i2 Interface
Condenser Mic
Laptop
DAW
Speaker Monitor
Headphone/Headset
Acoustic Panel Foams
Lights
Tripod
Some indoor plants to enhance background :D
These are the simple and basic equipment of my home studio set up. Our lights are all DIY's made by my fiancè. My guitar right now has no pick up because we are having trouble to have a clean recording when using an individual microphones for the acoustic guitar. However, though the condenser microphones are more sensitive in receiving and recording sounds, in that way we record the vocals and the instrument in one stop. The mixing part of vocals with the instrument was a bit hard to separate sounds when editing that's why it's challenge fo my fiancè to separate all the noise that surrounds us here at home. The nature sounds like bugs and lizards noise are always present when I do covers.
(sorry for my wavy hair lol) |
It's funny and sometimes I was disturbed and distracted when I heard annoying sounds like motorcycle loud pipes, the noise of the neighbors and barks of dogs outside. I remember my dog Chu Chu who always follow me whenever were about to start or just to rehearsed the studio set ups. Here is our photo carrying him, I am still missing him so much!
By the way the photo with Shallow caption was the first studio set up we had. As you may seen there's no acoustic foam and I forgot to mention that our home studio wasn't sound proof. That's why all the noise outside can be a big distraction while making videos. Off cam I'd love to do some entertaining script while choosing the right angle, the lights and everything. Some photos here are from my covers of Shallow, Dance Monkey and Araw Gabi. Though I wouldn't show anything about it, my photos seem obvious guys :D
For the mean time, this set up wasn't available any longer for cover sessions because I've got to find a new one. My laptop just currently not working and in recording laptops/desktop needed so badly. As of this moment I can't afford to make a repair for this laptop (this is a very old version of Lenovo) but I am hoping I could buy a newer version of laptops of a desktop. We are trying to look for other alternative ways to record our covers though without the proper recording equipments. We are now using our mobile phone alone. This must be a big transition for us and specially for me. I hope that some of you guys can help me by just dropping here! Though my next cover won't be clear recording, I will still try to upload more video this month of May. I love to sing and to share my music with you. Thank you so much for all the love and support!
