Marcelito Pomoy | The Finals of America's Got Talent Champions Edition
Finally the long wait is over. The Philippines bet for the final round of AGT reveal his undeniably impressive performance. About almost a month ago when this new season of AGT started we've seen different acts from other countries as their representative. One of the most loved and most viewed performance was from Marcelito Pomoy. A dual singer (male and female voice) that won Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011. This guy also have an inspiring story and now happily married with her wife Joan. From the previous season of AGT, the Champions Edition is more difficult to guess who will win. Some act given a golden buzzer and eventually went through the final round.
Marcelito always mesmerized us with his sweet angelic voice without looking trying hard or copying other singers that makes him unique. His last performace for the finals made the crowd blown away for he sang "Beauty and the Beast". We all knew that this song was hard to sang to the fact that it was a duet by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson. As the camera shown that audiences liked his performance the judges thought matter's most.
I remember during the semi finals, Simon told Marcelito if he enter the Finals he needs to choose a song and to take a risk for that. I wondered if this song was his first pick or maybe not. His stage presence was good and when his performance ended, i saw Simon was the only judges didn't stand after Marcelito's performance. From seeing that moved from Simon, i sense that his comment will not be good after all that beautiful performance.
From Heidi, Alesha and Howie these judges always gives an encouraging words for every talent that performing and Simon has the ability to give his honest opinion in every act he saw. From American Idol, The X Factor and the Got Talent was his big reflection of his wide experience on discovering extra ordinary talent worldwide. However when he started to tell Marcelito about his opinion for his performance, i really felt sad and upset.
He told Marcelito that he didn't take a risk in that song. From the way his eye brow rise and the way his voice speak, seems he didn't like Marcelito's song of choice. The other judges seems to be upset about Simon's comment for Marcelito. From my opinion as a Filipino viewer of AGT, i would say that he picked song was not the best to fit his voice. It's quiet easier vocally and sounded safe, but i think we must consider that his talent was not ordinary. Not all singer can do decently dual voice like he does. He nailed that song all in one! He was talented and deserved that spot in the Finals. I've read some viewers comment from the comment section box in AGT official Youtube channel and my expectation was right. Many viewers are not satisfied and not happy on Simon's comment about Marcelito's performance. Some also said that the AGT production was the one who had the final decision which songs are qualified to be sang in the finals. So it means that maybe Beauty and the Beast was not his top song picked.
I also remember he said in an interview here in the Philippines that the list of songs are needed to submitted and undergo on screening first by the AGT productions and needs a license for a song to qualified to be used as his final song piece. I know that his voice can be flexible compared to his final performance. But as the contest guidelines needed to follow, i was hoping that the super fans will vote for the best act and the most deserving one. We'll just wait for the result and watch for other's final performance.

In every Filipino's talent that compete in International like Got Talents, we've seen that Filipinos had a hard time on winning the grand champion. Some says it was because of racism, but i think what matter's most, making the world to see Filipino talents worth to still fight for the attention of other nations as well. We have a lot of undiscovered talents and reality talent shows like this will help anyone to be the next big star and inspiration for others. I know that Marcelito's journey will just begin by AGT. I wished him God's guidance all through out this competition.
