5 Tips To Consider When Covering Songs

Covering song looks easy to do but it takes an effort to produce a decent one. Some people uses this platform to share their talent in a very convenient way to have a future audience and maybe later on to be discover by some talent agencies or a managers. Though the peak of volume for cover songs really targetted mainly on Youtube, there's a huge numbers of newbies like me who had gain few subscribers but still striving to have a future for our dreams.

Being obserbant for others stuff and techniques in recording was challenging and enhancing your own work requires to be creative and sometimes taking risk. I haven't been the kind of person to say yes in a single work that looks so simple. What i only mean that being too simple was one of the problem why our covers been ignored. This thoughts of mine will help anyone to figure what is lacking on your content as a you are starting to cover songs.

1. Create an appealing thumbnail.

This might be simple but i tell you that this are one of my weakness when i decided to click for that video or not. The first sight of our video appeares only just the thumbnail, it means that if you choose a photo that sucks it will be no longer attract your future auduience. Atleast the thumbnail can work as one of the key for click on your video. However I've seen some uses other thumbnail which i saw that was not related to their stuff. They uses this as a trick and it seems like a clickbait. This is not good just to fool your viewers to look and click for your videos. Make sure that you uses a relevant thumbnail as you look on your work.

2. Make an appealing background as well.

For so many reasons i can't help myself to think that most of the time the world judges us according to our appearance and exactly the same to our cover videos. If you're saying you don't have budget for a good background, you can create your own background out of scratch like we did when we first try to shoot our videos. There's a lot of tutorials on how to do those background suited for vloggers, reviewers and even music covers too. When you had a good background you are now able to make a  good thumbnail. Don't be afraid to experiment sort of things to improve your work. It feels enjoyable when you see the result of your finish work.

3. Use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and Audio Interface.

This is so important in mixing vocals. By this wonderful tools you can record your vocal and make it more clean. I am not saying recording at your phone RAW was not good, but this can only work for some people that has already and build their audiences. They will be watched whether it is a RAW one or this one that i'm about to tell. Using a DAW and Audio Interface needed to be learn. That's why maybe for a newbie, this is hard to be done.

This 2 tool works as a team and it will really give your voice to be like a professional sounding and a more decent one. We've always wanted that our songs will be heard someday and that's not an easy thing to do nowadays. Perhaps if you could try to pay for a recording studio to do the work for you, it's better for a while but if you are just starting your journey in music this might be an additional expenses for your budget. So i guess the best way was to invest little by little on Audio Interface and watch tutorials how to use DAW and the Interface.

4. Lights and your video recording gear.

You have to create your video viewable and pleasantly encouraging to watch for. A RAW video was a total nightmare and anyone will not be interested to watch it if your video had shallow pixel. You can use you mobile phone but make sure you had a lights atleast one in front or try to make some by your own.

We recorded our videos by our phone and since we are in a small space in a while 1 light stand is enough. When you shoot your videos in a more spacious place you need to have atleast 2-3 lights but that is just an idea. You need a Tripod that can support your phone while recording. Avoid using app enhancement like in snapchat, you wanted to be identify as you are without using emoji's on your face. Enhance yourself by putting some make up but do not over do it and becomes worst lol!

5. Try to create your description longer.

Description means a lot in Youtube. It will serve as the additional tags for your videos. Some tutorial says you need to repeat the title itself at the beginning of you description which i think was right. The first paragraph that will appear on your videos was important. Try to research more about the song that you've cover, about the artist and the songwriters. I highly suggest that you must include the lyrics of the song specially if it's a newly released. This can help you to add it on your tags 'cause you have a lyric on your description. Don't forget also to give credit to the original artist and put the official song link on your description. Copyright may have for many songs, we cannot make any move from it because it was under the law. As long as you don't recieved any strike from that just keep on doing cover and who knows one day you will be noticed and your dreams turned into reality.
