SNAKE PLANT | NATURAL AIR PURIFIER
I have this indoor plant a while ago and i started to ask myself what kind of plant is this. Then i learn that this is a kind of a Snake Plant.
WHAT IS A SNAKE PLANT?
Scientific Name: Sansevieria trifasciata
Origin: West Africa, Nigeria and Congo
Other Name: Mother in Law's Tongue, Saint George Sword and Viper's Bowstring Hemp
This type of indoor plant has known to live in a dry soil without watering it up to 6 weeks. I've seen a lot of this indoor plants in a Tiny Houses abroad that's why i became more familiar to this kind of plants. However some studies shown that Snake Plant is a Natural Air Purifier. It has the ability to absorb more carbon monoxide than any other plant as a Air Purifier. This can also filters air with benzene, trichloroethylene, xyelene and formaldehyde. These chemicals are just around us and inhaling air with them can cause serious respiratory illnesses in the long run.
We taught about the Photosynthesis in plants nature. Plants produce oxygen that we breath in and as we exhale the carbon monoxide we produce is what plants needed. By this process plants always gives us clean and fresh air. NASA studied this plant and found out that it is ideal to put Snake Plant right at your bedroom as it provides you oxygen in your room while sleeping. They perform a research and put snake plant in a sealed room with various bad gases for 24 hours and found out how incredibly reduces the amount of trichloroethylene and benzene in the air.
Aside from having a good beneficial property of this plants, it is so easy to take care and anyone can have this. Here's some DO'S and DON'TS when you have a Snake Plant.
1. Can survive without a direct sunlight. But be sure to put them in an open area that has a little light as well.
2. Watering 2 to 6 weeks depend on you home humidity.
3. Very cozy and stylish as a additional decor at home. (in your coffee table, windows and even in the shower room.
4. Low maintenance plant no worries in keeping them alive. Just don't ignore them at all:)
5. Make it sure that you water the plant when the soil is thoroughly dry to prevent if from rotten.
