4 Set of Chords That I used in Songwriting

Today i'm going to share to you what i usually used in songwriting. If you're just like me that melody comes first before the lyrics itself, this one will definitely gives you idea on exploring your musical genre.

Aside from these set of Chords that i will share, i am not saying that all of these will work out on you. As i said earlier that it will depend on someone's musical gift and creativity. I also apply Family Chords relatively to each other.

1. POP/BALLAD

C   Am   F   G

This key is one of my favorite and by this key it is easy how to mix and match your tune in mind and the tunes and melodies that will come while you are playing these chords. However though it may look like the basic chord. A true musician can create any music even in an ordinary chords itself.

2. EMOTIONAL

Am    G     F    C

These 3 simple chords is so versatile. Minor chords sounded different that's why minor chords sounded emotional. Personally i am loving this set of chords and i am now on my way in finishing my song with these chords. A heartbreak song for this one suits the melody.

3. MELLOW/BALLAD/POP

G     D    Em    C

I usually see these chords used by Taylor Swift on "Lover" and Ed Sheeran in "Perfect". The fact about these chords is very applicable in any genre i guess so. When you try to create something sweet you can just play by plucking it and do whatever you wanted.

Drop Chords can also sound good it's just a matter of your ear to be activated by the inviting sounds of these chords. I haven't tried to make a song/melody out from this but maybe later i'm gonna do this.

4. FULL STRUM

E    A    B   C#m   A

Strumming is a good one to create melody for song writing. The Key of E suits most females but these days male vocalist is much versatile in many ways. I am a personal fan if this chords and i usually play this in broken chords. I don't know why, i just like how it sounded more light and crisp. I remember Katy Perry's song "Thinking of you", it has almost exactly the same chords she used in that song.

Disclaimer: This is only samples and i personally used this method when i am trying to make new songs. The result may vary and needed to work hard on other technical things.
