5 Basic Chords You Need To Learn For Beginners

Everyone loves music but not everyone has a talent to play musical instrument too. However learning to play your chosen musical instrument is not a joke. If you are serious on learning to play an instrument, i'm gonna share few tips that made myself taught in playing 5 Basic Chords in playing Acoustic Guitar.

Prepare your designated/chosen instrument. (Guitar or Piano)

This 2 instruments work best for beginners as a good foundation in learning to be much familiar in the Law of Family Chords (just in my own term). I prefer the Acoustic Guitar which i learned much faster than Piano/Keyboard. In my experience a guitar suits my hands quickly than Piano Tiles that's why i decided to study first Guitar. Maybe a Guitar is more familiar to me because we have a guitar at home and my mom knows how to play it. But she didn't taught me to play it. These instruments will depend on you, so choose wisely though.

In Guitar every finger has a designated numbers as a guide on self studying a chord chart like this photo.

The Guitar Strings has a designated numbers too. See sample photo below. So now let get started as simple it may be.

1. G Chord

This chords looks easy but for a beginner this is a hard one. I suffer a lot on this chords as you may see in the photo that your fingers are way apart. The strings that your finger will touched,

The strings that your finger will touched is 1st Finger to 5th string, 2nd finger to 6th string and your 3rd finger to 1st string.

2. D Chord

This cute little chord is easy at the beginning but the key to a make it sounded good is to fit your finger properly between the 2st and the 3rd fret.

1st finger to 3rd string, 2nd finger to 1st string and 3rd finger to 2nd string. The rest of the strings is open. The upper base string above your first finger is the D Bass.
Tip: When you are playing this chord make sure that you include the D Bass string for much fuller sound.

3. A Chord

This is one of the easy chord i've learned maybe because it's shape is much closer to each other that's why it's easy to remember.

Your 1st finger to 4th string, 2nd finger to 3rd string and your 3rd finger to 2nd string, the 1st string below plays it open.

Just like the D Chord you have to make sure that your fingers fit in right in the strings inside the 2nd fret.

4. C Chord

This Chord just like the G Chord it requires your fingers to stretch more. Your finger will cross the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fret so it needs a lot of bend guys i know you can do it :)

Your 1st finger on 2nd string (1st fret) 2nd finger on 4th string (2nd fret) and your 3rd finger on the 5th string (3rd fret) the 3rd string is open.

5. E Chord

It may look like easy at first, but since it was near to each other it may look so close and you need to be careful in putting your fingers at the right position or else it will not sound in tune.

Your 1st finger on the 3rd string (1st fret), 2nd finger on 5th string (2nd fret) and your 3rd finger in the 4th string (2nd fret) just below your 3rd finger. Tip: The 6th string (Lower E) and 1st strings is the (Higher E ) just play this with the 1st and 2nd string for a fuller sound.

In the next blog i will give my tips on what chords are often used in songwriting. :)
