The Last Solar Eclipse in 2019
Today, December 26, 2019 around 12:45 pm Philippines is one of the country that can witness the Annular Solar Eclipse. The other country that will be visible to the eclipse was the Qatar, India, Saudi Arabia, Sumatra, Borneo, Guam and the Philippines. This eclipse will be seen again after 44 years. I remember that the last time i saw a solar eclipse when i was a kid. It's very breath taking experience. Hence today, this is another memories to be remember, so what is an Annular Solar Eclipse?
Annular Solar Eclipse is a ring shape form when the moon covers the sun's center and the outer part/edges forming a ring like shape. That's why they call it the "Ring of Fire".
In Balut Island (Southern Part of the Philippines) many people are now watching the sun to slowly to cover by the moon's shadow.
This location can be seen perfectly this phenomenon. But to some areas it can be visible too like some part of Manila and other near areas but only partial sightings only. But you have to be very careful before you decide to watch the eclipse without any eye protection.
You need to have a special eclipse glasses that the normal eye glasses doesn't have. You can have serious damage to your eyes and even get blind. I tried to look directly to the sun just to check if the eclipse is starting and i cannot stand to look for a few seconds it's light. It's a bit more lighter than i thought it may look. I got my eyes very bright blurred so it's a experience to be learned anyway.
A telescope that has a higher definition is the best way to see a proper and more decent view of an eclipse. Some uses a plain white paper act like a projector to see the eclipse without looking directly to the telescope.
Get a protective gear and gadgets and enjoy the breath taking experience that will be visible again in 2063.
